INPA are to sponsor a workshop which aims to improve social workers and healthcare professionals knowledge of acquired brain injury. People who have an ABI may well be seen by social workers working in adult and children’s social settings, but ABI may not be the presenting problem. People with ABI can present as having behavioural, mental health, or substance misuse problems or a learning difficulty.
The event will take place in London on 26th January 2017
The aims of the workshops are:
- To improve knowledge of Acquired Brain Injury
- To explore how an understanding of Acquired Brain Injury can improve assessments in relation to The Care Act, The Mental Capacity Act, the Mental Health Act and The Children’s Act
- To help social workers improve their assessment skills by introducing a simple assessment tool – The Brain Injury Needs Indicator (BINI) developed by the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust
- To signpost social workers to sources of further help and information
The workshop will be delivered by a mixture of Case Studies and discussion. CPD certificates will be issued.
